Elies Vaer (°1992, Alagoinhas) is a photographer, multidisciplinary artist, poet and educator based in Brussels, Belgium. Trained in Photography at KASK Ghent, they also practice video, text and installation, while sometimes letting the mediums meet and merge. 

Elies seeks out the small and intimate details within broader narratives, often beginning from personal stories. Their gaze softens toward the people and world that surround them, with care and presence. They believe beauty and love exist in everything, even within the painful and the ugly. Themes of (be)longing, mental health and connection recur throughout their work.
